Somos Más que Animación, más que un trabajo

More than just animation

Why us

We have a deep knowledge and expertise on animation art and VFX development. However, we do know that is not enough to give our clients a professional service. An animation project is not just a cute piece of art: There are timing deadlines and file administration tasks that can’t fail, ever. Animationworks has its own management tools to take any project to a serious and high level to efficiently handle our production stages.

Subversion on server.

Our Subversion software allows us to handle every file on any project at any time. We make sure to create only the necessary files and information, thus avoiding file duplication while preventing data loss. These tools have been thought to help software engineering development professionals, but we’ve taken and successfully adapted them to our graphics and arts requirements. The adaptation and use of these tools have provided us a methodical discipline, workflow protocols, and structured guidelines.

Animation Workshop.

Animationworks is committed to the development of the digital animation industry in Chile. For this reason, at the beginning of 2011 we created our in-house training unit “Animation Workshop”. The objective of this workshop was to share our passion, knowledge, and expertise with those eager to learn about the wonderful and magical world of art and animation.

Our team

Alex Olea / General Director

Hello, I’m a 32-year-old animation artist. I was born in Santiago (Chile). I grew up watching “Tom and Jerry”, “Marco”, “The Twilight Zone”, and many other 80′s cartoons and SCI-FI TV shows.

I started my career on the animation field in early 1997, going through diverse traditional and digital animation studios. I worked mainly as a character animator, but I also learnt other animation areas, such as story-board, art concept, video post production and VFX for ads, animated TV series, music video clips, among other stages of the animation production process.

I’m very proud of my last job as an employee at Wanako games: a company that develops video games for XBOX360, Play Station 3, and PC. I worked there as an Art Director and animator. Some of my favorites works there include “Assault Heroes” (2006 Game of the Year winner, Live Arcade Line), “Assault Heroes 2″ and the recently launched video game “Revenge of the Wounded Dragon” for Play Station 3.

Jaime Cañas / Executive Producer

I’m Jaime Cañas. I was born in Santiago (Chile). After some design studies I moved to Germany, where I studied animation at the “Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen, Konrad Wolf”, in Postdam, Near Berlin.

In Germany I got several jobs as an animator and line producer for TV series at Hahn Film, and featured films like “Lars, der kleine Eisbär, Part 1″ at Motion-Works.

In 2000 I returned to Chile and began working as an animation teacher in several educational institutions, as a freelance animator and line producer.

Gabriel Zapata / Executive Producer

Hi, My name is Gabriel Zapata Guerra. After studying Marketing and Finances, I specialized in Cultural Management, Film Theory, and Executive Audiovisual Productions. In addition, I have been involved professionally with two Chilean film festivals (FECID and PINTACANES) and a Swiss film festival (Corto Helvetico al Femminile).

During three years and until September 2011 I was the Cultural Facilitator of the Images in the Motion Foundation. Currently, I’m the Executive Producer of the Fiction Featured Film “Londres Puertas Adentro” that was filmed in August 2011; and the Fiction Featured Film “Sol Negro”. I’m currently looking for financing sources for this film.
